The fourth MSS Lunch Lecture of this year provides you with the opportunity of learning about the research of Prof. Luis Sicking, lecturer at Leiden University and Aemilius Papinianus Chair in the History of Public International Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He has a particular interest in the maritime, urban, colonial and global history of the Middle Ages and Early Modern period. Prof. Sicking has special expertise in the premodern history of naval warfare. The title of hisLunch Lecture is ‘Zuiderzeesteden aan de Oostzee. Vitten en voogden: ruimte en representatie in laat-middeleeuws Schonen’.
