Book release 'Medieval Bruges c. 850 - c. 1550' (eds. Andrew Brown & Jan Dumolyn)

On Thursday 17th of May 2018, 19:30 - 22:00, the Henri Pirenne Institute for Medieval Studies of Ghent University organises the release event of ' Medieval Bruges, c. 850 - c. 1550 (eds. Andrew Brown, Massey University & Jan Dumolyn, Ghent University). 'Medieval Bruges' is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary synthesis on the medieval history of the city of Bruges, published by the prestigious Cambridge University Press.

The release event will consist of an academic session and a reception, and will take place in the city hall of Bruges, in the Gothic Room (academic session) and the Salons (reception).


Academic session, 19:30 - 20:30:
Welcome by Mr. Renaat Landuyt, mayor of the city of Bruges
Speech by Prof. dr. Rik Van de Walle, rector of Ghent University
Scientific reflections paper by Prof. dr. Marc Boone, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy

Musical intermezzo by Duo Ultreya (songs from the Gruuthuse manuscript)
Word of thanks by Prof. dr. Jan Dumolyn 

Reception: 20:30 - 22:00

You can get the book on the release event if you subscribe beforehand via distributor De Reyghere. Please email with your order and confirm with payment.
After the academic session book shop De Reyghere will be open between 20:30 and 22:00. After the release event, the book will be for sale between normal business hours.
