Workshop Medieval Suburbia: Registration Open

On Monday and Tuesday, 18-19 May 2026, the Henri Pirenne Institute for Medieval Studies is organising an international, multidisciplinary workshop on the topic of medieval suburbia. The workshop will be organised at Ghent University. The goal is to take stock of work done in the past, to learn first-hand about the latest multidisciplinary research on medieval suburbia, and to discuss future research opportunities and ways forward.

This workshop is an initiative of Lane Baker, BAEF postdoctoral fellow from Stanford at HPIMS, and Stefan Meysman, HPIMS coordinator.
