Profs on tv about Van Eyck's 'Arnolfini portrait'

(06-09-2019) Profs. Jan Dumolyn and Maximiliaan Martens featured as Van Eyck specialists on Flemish TV.

The VRT, the Flemish Radio and Television Broadcasting Network, has published the third and final episode online of Weg Van Het Meesterwerk, an exciting short series in which presenter Thomas Vanderveken retraces the histories and journeys of three masterpieces of Flemish Master painters Pieter Bruegel, Peter Paul Rubens and Jan Van Eyck.

Ghent University professors Jan Dumolyn (history) and Maximiliaan Martens (art history) feature as experts in the last episode, on Van Eyck's 'Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and his wife'' (1434), now in the National Gallery in London.

In 2020, February to April, the largest exhibition of Van Eyck pieces ever, 'Van Eyck: An Optical Revolution' will the  must-visit in the Ghent Museum for FIne Arts (MSK). Jan Dumolyn, Max Martens and the Henri Pirenne Institute are part of the scientific and organising committees.
