Registration as an exchange student
Registration exchange students
Before the start of your exchange period (and if applicable, after arrival in Belgium), please send an e-mail to enrol@ugent.be. In order to register, you will need to add the letter of invitation and a scan of your international passport or ID card (EU-students). Note: Student cards and driver's licenses are not valid forms of ID in Belgium.
Make sure that your address in Belgium has been added to your personal details in OASIS (and is kept up-to-date).
What will I receive?
- A student card
You need this card when taking exams or when going to the library or to one of the university restaurants. You can also get reductions in the cinema, museum, historic buildings, ... Please make sure that you always carry it with you. - An e-mail with the activation of your UGent-account (e-mail address and login name)
Migration Office Standard Form
For the registration at the Migration Office (residence permit), you will need to submit the "Standaardformulier - Inschrijvingsattest". You have received this Standard Form in your letter of invitation (page 2 and 3).
Arrival Form
To have the arrival form from your university completed, please contact the FCI-contact person, mentioned on the letter of invitation or visit the Student Centre.
Before you go home...
- Before going back to your home university, be sure to download your 'transcript of records' in Oasis. The transcript of records mentions the courses you have followed, the ECTS-credits and the ECTS-grades you have obtained. The Transcript of Records has an authentication code and replaces all extra signatures.
