Electromobility in the North Sea Region

ERDF Interreg IVb

The Interreg project ‘e-mobility NSR’ is a collaboration between different research institutes and regional governments located in the North Sea region with the intention of introducing, promoting and supporting electro mobility in the region. Initiatives are bundled on scientific, technical, legal and social basis. Previous to the project, such projects were executed in parallel. By bundling the different initiatives in the Interreg project, economies of scale and synergies are created.

The concrete action of the partners are:

  • to collect, to list and to disseminate policy supporting information
  • to identify both problems and opportunities at the current logistic and traffic infrastructure
  • to build a smart grid infrastructure
  • to shift logistic traffic in the urban area to electrical alternatives

Ghent University is the representative partner in Flanders. The main focus of the UGhent activities is on the integration of electrical vehicles on the existing electrical network, whereby extra attention is paid to the use of locally produced renewable energy for the charging of electrical vehicles.
