Empowering Customers to Save Energy by Informative Billing
Intelligent Energy Europe
Towards 2020, the main objective of this European project is to make the energy market more transparent and thus enable consumers to save energy. The project aims to meet the challenge by empowering consumers: by involving and informing them, helping them take measures to save energy based on the information they receive on their bills or through specially designed online tools.
The consortium consists of 12 partners from five European countries who join forces to take up this challenge: Spain (International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Grup El-Gas, GISCE-TI SL), France (Hespul Association, Gas Electricity of Grenoble, Local Energy and Climate Agency of Grenoble Area), Italy (Politecnico di Torino, Iren Energia Spa, SINERGIE Consortium Limited Company, Municipality of Reggio Emilia), Austria (Linz AG) and Belgium (Ghent University, Power-Link).
EMPOWERING brings together energy suppliers and end consumers in order to implement more informative billing services to serve as basis for energy performance improvement programs and the development of energy services. These programs and services will be tested on a target audience of more than 344.000 European consumers. At the same time, this ambitious project contributes to the EU 2020 targets on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources (20% cut in greenhouse gas emissions, 20% improvement in energy efficiency and 20% of renewables in EU energy consumption).
