Workshop "Het Good Lives Model in de praktijk": 18 t.e.m. 20 september 2023

Het 'Good Lives Model of Offender Rehabilitation (GLM)', ontwikkeld door Tony Ward en collega's, is uitgegroeid tot een internationaal erkend rehabilitatiemodel voor personen die criminele feiten hebben gepleegd. Tijdens de driedaagse workshop ligt de focus op de behandelings- en klinische implicaties en de concrete implementatie van het GLM in de praktijk. Hierbij besteden we zowel aandacht aan de toepassing van het GLM in het algemeen als aan de toepassing bij specifieke populaties (bv., adolescenten die seksueel grensoverschrijdend gedrag stellen of personen binnen de forensische geestelijke gezondheidszorg).
Deze workshop werd reeds 7 jaar op rij georganiseerd (in de periode 2016-2022).

Programma

Het GLM kenmerkt zich door de aandacht voor twee doelstellingen: het bevorderen van het welzijn van personen die criminele feiten hebben gepleegd én het verminderen van risico op recidive. Volgens het GLM zijn deze doelen onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden waarbij aandacht voor beide een essentiële voorwaarde is voor een veiligere samenleving. De driedaagse workshop focust op:

• De implementatie van het GLM in de praktijk.
• Klinische implicaties van het GLM in relatie tot behandelingsdoelen en oriëntatie, assessment en interventieplanning, inhoud, en uitkomsten.

Tony Ward en Mary Barnao zullen live de Engelstalige workshop verzorgen. De deelnemers zullen, doorheen de vorming, concrete kennis verwerven omtrent de ontwikkeling van een Good Lives Plan in de praktijk. We voorzien de tools om met het GLM in de praktijk aan de slag te gaan zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels.

Tony Ward

Tony Ward, PhD, Dip Clin Psyc, FRSNZ, is currently professor in clinical psychology at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He has taught clinical and forensic psychology at several universities and was a past director of the Kia Marama Treatment Unit for men who have sexually abused children. Professor Ward has authored more than 430 academic publications and is on the editorial boards of several leading forensic psychology journals. His current research projects include: (a) explanation and inquiry in clinical research and practice; (b) normative issues in forensic psychology; and (c) change processes in the psychopathology and forensic/correctional domains.   He has run workshops and given talks on the GLM all over the world including Ireland, Belgium, England, Japan, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Wales, Singapore, Scotland, and the USA.

Mary Barnao

Mary Barnao is a registered Clinical Psychologist who works part-time at Victoria University of Wellington training clinical psychology students.  She also has a private practice where she works with the full spectrum of psychological issues in adults.  She previously worked for over a decade in the specialty of forensic mental health where she provided psychological assessment and treatment for people with major mental disorder and offending histories and was involved in a range of innovative service development initiatives. Mary’s PhD explored the application of the GLM to forensic service users.  As part of her research, she developed a GLM tool kit for use with mentally disordered offenders and a GLM training program for forensic practitioners.  She has authored several journal articles on topics relating to forensic rehabilitation, the GLM, and ethical decision-making and forensic practice. Mary has had extensive experience presenting workshops and lectures on the GLM to international audiences. She has trained practitioners in the application of the GLM in general and its application to adolescent offenders, forensic service users, and people with addictions.  She has also provided consultation to services on implementing the GLM within organizations.

Voor wie?

Deze driedaagse workshop staat open voor praktijkwerkers en onderzoekers binnen de forensische hulpverlening en/of werkend met een forensisch publiek. Er zijn minimaal 40 deelnemers nodig om de workshop te laten doorgaan. Het aantal plaatsen is beperkt.
