Three FWO research projects awarded to our department

(30-11-2017) On 22 November 2017, the Research Foundation - Flanders (FWO) announced the results of the 2017 application round for research projects. We are happy to announce that three proposals of our department received funding from the FWO.

Prof. Lieven De Marez, dr. Ralf De Wolf and Prof. Mariek Vanden Abeele (Tilburg University) will focus on boundary coordination and mobile youth culture. Drawing on ethnographic research, they will investigate teens’ practices of privacy management in location-based social networks.

In their new research project, Prof. Liselot Hudders and Prof. Dieneke Van de Sompel will examine how school interventions can incite young children to act in more sustainable ways. More specifically, they will examine how nudges and public service announcements can enhance the ecological consciousness of children and stimulate them to behave more sustainable.

Finally, Prof. Stijn Joye takes a look at the colonial past. This project wants to critically investigate if and how colonial constructions and discourses are present in contemporary representations of former colonies (Congo, Rwanda and Burundi) in Belgian news reporting and vice versa.
