The research group for Media & ICT is one of the four research groups at the department of Communication Studies at Ghent University, and part of the independent research institute iMinds.

The context and focus of MICT’s research is today’s digital society & economy, and more specifically the changes and challenges that are imposed by that environment for each of its stakeholders: industry, policy makers and end-users.

In this volatile environment, MICT tries to stay in touch with the residential end-user and his expectations, experience, use patterns and habits. We rely on a broad and interdisciplinary methodological expertise and a team of +30 experts in new media and communication.

Together with the VUB research group SMIT, MICT is part of the iMinds Research Department Digital Society. Besides that, we constitute the IOF valorization consortium iMune in cooperation with the research groups Multimedialab (MMLab) and the Internet Based Communication Networks and Services research group (IBCN).

At UGent, MICT is the research group behind the Master ‘New Media and Society’.
