Prof. dr. Eric Van Heesvelde

Eric Van Heesvelde    




Eric Van Heesvelde holds a Master in Law. After his graduation, he was an assistant at the Law faculty of Ghent University. Later, Eric was successively a juridical advisor and a member of the Belgian Federal Planning Bureau (FPB). At the FPB, he was responsible for the departments transport, ICT and public finances.

In 1993, he became the General Administrator of BIPT, the Belgian Institute for Postal services and Telecommunication. Ten years later, he became the Chairman of the Council of the BIPT. In 2004, Eric also became the chairman of the European Regulatory Group and Independent Regulatory Group.

From 2000 onwards, Eric is an Associate Professor at the Ghent University. He has the same function at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. In both universities, he was in charge of the course ‘Telecom policy and regulation’.
