Kathleen Vinck obtained a Master’s Degree in Design Sciences, Product Development in June 2016 at the University of Antwerp. In her Master’s thesis she investigated user behaviour, concerning the sorting of food waste in restaurants. This lead to an innovative product that stimulates sustainable behaviour, while keeping optimal synergy between user and product without neglecting the economic aspect.

Kathleen started working as a researcher for the University of Antwerp on a ‘proof of concept’ about centralised organic waste recycling in an urban environment. During this project she broadened her expertise in stimulating behavioural change in end-users towards sustainable awareness or behaviour.

In April 2017 she joined the imec.livinglab team and imec-mict-UGent, where she complements the team by using the expertise she acquired during her studies and work experience. Currently she is working on projects within the domain of internet of things, that focus on capturing data and translate it into an innovative product and/or service using user interaction and user experience.
