Wouter Durnez got his master’s degree in theoretical and experimental psychology in 2011. He then obtained his PhD under the tutelage of Stefaan Van Damme (2015), by investigating how maladaptive attentional processes related to pain and somatosensory perception can be understood within a motivational context. Regrettably, he never succeeded in abbreviating the former PhD description.

Next, Wouter decided to try and redirect his career towards his primary interests: multimedia, games, technology, and the human interface element. This resulted in a brief stint as project manager at PreviewLabs (2016), a company geared towards rapid (game) prototyping. In 2017, Wouter found his way back to the academic world in the role of researcher at MICT. Currently, his primary focus is the iPlay ICON-project. This project aims to create a next-gen fitness and rehabilitation framework by merging a selection of state-of-the-art technologies.

Finally, Wouter has a definite interest in artificial intelligence. He is currently attempting to broaden his scope by studying Applied Informatics (Bachelor’s degree), and is ogling a Master in Artificial Intelligence for the near future.
