Polisi Siku Kwa Siku
What does the everyday work of street-level police in Bukavu look like? How do policewomen and –men engage the population? What challenges do they face—in their daily work and at home? This pilot project pursues a dual objective: First, it will contribute original research on the PNC (Congolese police) with the aim to answer the above questions and provide insights into the everyday work of the police in Bukavu. The street-level research of the project aims to yield insights, which are of relevance not just for the specific case of Bukavu or the DRC, but for police reform in similar contexts worldwide. And secondly, the project aims to present its findings in an innovative way to policymakers and local and international organizations working on security sector reform in the DRC and beyond.
