Bruno Vandecasteele

Bruno Vandecasteele works in the Belgian Foreign service. Between 2011 and 2016 he worked at Ghent University's Centre for EU Studies. In May 2015 he obtained his doctoral degree in political science with a grant of the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). His PhD research analysed the role of the rotating Council presidency in the EU's external policies. During his PhD research, Bruno has been a visiting researcher at the Institute of International Relations of Warsaw University (2012), the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University (2013 and 2014), and the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (2015). His teaching experience includes Master courses, seminars and guest lectures on a broad range of topics, including decision-making in the EU, EU-Eastern Partnership relations, EU external policy, theory of European integration, and transport policy in the EU.​


Research interests

Decision-making in EU external policy and role of the rotating Council Presidency, EU relations with its Eastern neighbours (Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan), transport policy in the EU.
