Domenico Valenza

Domenico Valenza is PhD Fellow at Ghent University since January 2019. In his project, Domenico maps and analyses European Union’s external policies in the field of cultural diplomacy (arts, education, tourism, cultural heritage, inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue) and related financial instruments (Partnership Instrument, European Neighborhood Instrument, Erasmus+, etc.) in the post-Soviet space. A comparative approach is also proposed by reviewing Russia’s cultural actions in the region.

Domenico holds an MA in European Studies from Université Paris 8 Saint Denis and Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and an MSc in “Russia in Global Systems” from King’s College London (KCL). Prior to joining UNU-CRIS, Domenico worked at No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) as Program Officer in Brussels and Dakar, Senegal, and at the College of Europe, Bruges, as Senior Academic Assistant.
