Niels Gheyle

Niels Gheyle is a doctoral student (Special Fund for Research - BOF) at the Centre for EU Studies. He graduated in 2012 with a Master's degree in Economics and in 2014 with a Master's degree in EU Studies, both at Ghent University. Before starting his PhD, he worked as an intern consultant at Political Intelligence, an EU Public Affairs consultancy in Brussels.





Research interests

The politicization of European trade policy, with a specific focus on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), the free trade agreement currently being negotiated by the EU and the United States. Complementary research and interest in the role of the European Parliament in trade policy, and the activities and influence of interest groups in the EU and in trade policy specifically.
