Projects

PSYNC is a hub for communication and contact, does socially innovative research, develops relationships and collaborates with important stakeholders, and offers education and training.

More than a hundred researchers across five faculties are involved in PSYNC.

It is therefore impossible to list all ongoing research. However, underneath we mention some of our “flagships”. Flagships refer to larger research projects that explicitly aim for societal impact and have produced specific tools and useful outputs for stakeholders.

We also gathered evidence-based initiatives to improve the mental health of all citizens in times of crisis and offer important resources to develop an online educational program.

Academic Workplace Autism

The Academic Workplace Autism wants to bridge the gap between practice and science. Together with people with autism, their families, professionals and policymakers, researchers will set up intervention oriented research to improve participation from children, young people and adults in our society. In this workplace, we want to learn more about what works for whom and why. The participating universities want to collaborate with various organizations that welcome persons with autism and their significant others.

MentALLY

Mental health problems in adults are of great concern as they are highly prevalent and impact significantly on health, social welfare and economy. Psychological treatment – whether or not in combination with medication – is effective but has not been able to nullify the apparent mismatch of mental healthcare. There is under- and suboptimal treatment of some adults and overtreatment of others. MentALLY is a European project that will gather the necessary qualitative data to improve European mental healthcare.

The REWARD-project aims to investigate how children and youngsters can learn to eat a healthy diet. Focus is on the reward value of food and on the reward sensitivity of children and adolescents. REWARD is a Flemish study.
