‘Better Knowledge for Better Solutions’ (BETKOSOL) is a research project in cooperation with the LUISS University of Rome.

Ghent University will be hosting the kick-off meeting for the BETKOSOL project. ‘Better Knowledge for Better Solutions’ is a research project in cooperation with and lead by the LUISS University of Rome and funded by the European Union’s HERCULE III Programme.

The BETKOSOL project aims to investigate the limits and perspectives of an improvement of the current regulatory framework to combat fraud affecting EU financial interests, in particular in social, health, and economic sectors, and taking into account the possible effects of the Covid-19 crisis on the status quo.

The kick-off meeting is scheduled for 28 January 2021 (from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but partial attendance is possible) and will be held online. The aim of the meeting is to ‘kick off’ with an occasion to collect opinions and to share ideas in the light of the project’s milestones.

The morning section will host academic experts and will be divided into two different panels (from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.). The first one will be dedicated to the context of the project: from the Multiannual Financial Framework to the managing of new European funds in the light of the Covid-19 crisis. The second panel will focus on ways to protect the economic interest of the EU and its citizens. A round table among institutions constitutes the key activity during the afternoon: European Commission, European Parliament, OLAF, EPPO, and national institutions (from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

It would be a great pleasure for us to have you as our guest at the launch event of the BETKOSOL project. For more information about the programme and/or to register, we kindly ask you to go to the event manager. Other (new) information and the results of the kick-off meeting can be found on the website of LUISS.
