François Crépeau, Intern. Francqui Professor Chair, comes to the Faculty

(30-01-2018) François Crépeau of McGill University, the 2018 International Francqui Professor Chair for Human Sciences, will attend a Ph.D. class and hold a public lecture in our Faculty on 29 March.

On the basis of a collaboration between seven universities (UCLouvain, KU Leuven, UAntwerpen, UGent, ULiège, USL-B and ULB) the International Francqui Professor Chair for Human Sciences of 2018 was awarded to Professor François Crépeau of McGill University.

On 29 March 2018 Professor Crépeau will visit the Faculty of Law and Criminology. His visit will include the following:

  • 10:00-13:00 - Class of Excellence: Human Rights Law taking up the Migration Challenge?
    Ph.D. researchers present their research in the field of human rights and migration, upon which Professor Crépeau will comment. After each reflection there is time for questions and debate.

François Crépeau

François Crépeau holds the Hans and Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law, at the Faculty of Law of McGill University. He was the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants from 2011 to 2017. His research interests include the control of migration flows, the rights and freedoms of refugees, new conceptions of security applied to migrants, and the rule of law in the face of globalisation processes.
