Book: 'Migration law. Between people and the state’

(07-02-2023)

Why do some people need a visa to come to Belgium and others do not? Why are residence procedures much more difficult for some than for others?

Migration law is complex and technical, even for lawyers. In this book (in Dutch), Ellen Desmet takes you through the labyrinth of migration law using nine stories. She spoke to nine people from different corners of the world, who came to Belgium for various reasons: for work, for love, on the run ... You will find out more about the procedures they followed, what went smoothly and what obstacles they encountered. How do you get a residence permit in Belgium, and what does that do to a person?

The royalties are donated to NANSEN, a legal expertise centre for people in need of international protection.
