POSTPONED European Evening Lectures

(20-02-2020) Together with the Ghent European Law Institute and the Center for EU-studies, Europa Direct is organising two European Evening Lectures.

As a consequence of the Covid-19 measures, the European Evening Lectures are POSTPONED.

 

Together with the Ghent European Law Institute (GELI) and the Center for EU-studies (CEUS), Europa Direct is organising two European Evening Lectures 

Both lectures are in English.

 

On 16 March 2020 Professor Piet Eeckhout (University College London) will talk about ‘Brexit and the future relations between the EU and the United Kingdom’.

After Brexit, the question remains what kind of long-term legal and political framework can be developed for ensuring stable relations between the EU and the UK in the future. In his public lecture, professor Piet Eeckhout will discuss the latest developments and the various options.

On 25 March 2020, dr. Allan Rosas (former judge at the Court of Justice of the EU) will talk about ‘The European Court of Justice: do all roads lead to Luxembourg?’.

Respect for democracy, fundamental rights and the rule of law are core foundational values of the EU, which are however increasingly under pressure in several EU Member States. In his public lecture, judge Allan Rosas will discuss how the EU addresses this challenge. Particular attention will be devoted to the role and relevant case law of the Court of Justice of the EU.
