Melilla,2016@JosePalazonPhD masterclass: Migrants’ perspectives on EU external migration policy and law

On 6 November 2020, a masterclass with prof. dr. Barbara Oomen will take place for early career researchers at Ghent University. This masterclass wants to focus on migrants’ own perspectives on their rights, which are often overlooked in the dominant politico-legal research on migration. In the assessment of EU external migration and development policies, socio-legal approaches look at migrants’ experiences and strategies regarding border policies and access to protection.

This PhD masterclass wants to serve as a forum to present early research findings on this issue from a socio-legal or political science approach, by PhD students and junior postdoc researchers of different disciplines.

Prof. dr. Barbara Oomen (Utrecht University) will be the central guest and respondent. She is a leading expert on the interplay between law and society, with a special emphasis on human rights and cultural diversity. The masterclass is organised by Ruben Wissing. Please register before 1 November by sending an e-mail to ruben.wissing@ugent.be.
