UGent team wins International Migration and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition

Ugent Team Moot Court CompetitionStudents of the Faculty of Law and Criminology of Ghent University have won the International Migration and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition, organised by the Migration Law Clinic of VU Amsterdam on 9 and 10 May 2019. The team consisted of Fauve Bex, Maya Bodenmann, Odile Dua and Joseph Finnerty, with coach Birte Schorpion, under the supervision of prof. Ellen Desmet.

The students also had the best written memorial, and Joseph Finnerty was awarded a shared first place as best pleader. After pleading a case on asylum law up to the semifinals, the students had to plead a new case, on family reunification, in the finals.
