Jivan Dasgupta

Jivan Dasgupta studied Law at Ghent University (Master in Law, 2007) and European Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Advanced Master in European Law, 2008).

Jivan Dasgupta started his professional career as a lawyer at the Brussels bar. In 2012 he joined the Office of the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Consumer Affairs and the North Sea at that time to serve as advisor to the Minister for energy and maritime transport policy. Subsequently, he acted as legal advisor to a number of private companies active in renewable energy, waste treatment and the development of maritime infrastructures and industrial zones.

In 2017 Jivan Dasgupta joined Ghent University as research fellow. He is carrying out research on the regulatory framework on deep sea mining in areas beyond national jurisdiction and marine litter.
