Wannes Vandenbussche

Wannes Vandenbussche is assistant professor of civil procedure, with international and European procedural law as one of his main areas of interest.

Wannes studied law at KU Leuven, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Eramus exchange) and Tilburg University (as part of the research master program). He defended his PhD thesis at KU Leuven, which was awarded with the Belgian Triennial Prize for Civil Procedure (2015-2017). He has been carrying out postdoctoral research on the role of apologies in civil proceedings as a visiting research scholar at Yale Law School (B.A.E.F. and Fulbright fellow).

Wannes is also an attorney-at-law at the Brussels bar and an accredited mediator in civil and commercial matters.

Wannes is editor of the IEL volumes on civil procedure and editorial board member of various law journals (RW, P&B, NJW and NTBR).

He was a member of the commission for the reform of the Belgian rules of evidence.
