Roundtable on child and youth consumer risks in digital markets
(30-09-2022) Law and Tech researchers co-organise a roundtable on child and youth consumer risks in digital markets
On 22 September, Prof. Dr. Eva Lievens and Dr. Valerie Verdoodt co-organised a roundtable on child and youth consumer protection in digital markets, together with European Schoolnet.
Prof. Lievens gave a keynote speech, setting the scene on what kind of consumer risks children and young people are exposed to online, and which regulatory responses are being put in place. The keynote speech was followed by two panels, one focusing on risks specific to social media platforms, and a second one which was moderated by Dr. Verdoodt on consumer risks in videogaming platforms.
A report summarising the main discussion points of the roundtable will be made available soon, and a conversation starter in preparation of the event was published here!
