Retirement Celebration of Professor Piet Taelman

The retirement celebration took place in the historic St Peter’s Abbey in Ghent and the adjoining Quetelet Auditorium on the Tweekerken campus. The event was attended by numerous colleagues, family members, friends, and former students of Professor Taelman.

Professor Taelman was honoured for an impressive academic career spanning more than three decades. The organising committee was composed of Wannes Vandenbussche, Stefaan Voet, Karen Broeckx, Sabien Lust, and Bart Krans.

Tributes delivered by former First President of the Belgian Court of Cassation Beatrijs Deconinck and Professor Bart Krans (Leiden University) offered a vivid and heartfelt portrait of the honouree. In his closing address, Professor Taelman expressed his gratitude with warmth and sincerity, deeply resonating with all those present.
