Het Instituut voor Procesrecht heeft het genoegen u uit te nodigen op het Engelstalige seminarie
"Burgerlijke en administratieve procedures voor oorlogsslachtoffers. Perspectieven uit België en Oekraïne",
dat zal plaatsvinden op 22 december 2022 van 16u-17u in lokaal 7.1 ("pleitlokaal") van onze faculteit (ingang 7, Universiteitsstraat 4).

Programma

16h00-16h25	“Judicial Process in Ukraine: enhancing access to justice for war victims on the path towards the EU membership.” Mykola Lazarenko (As. Prof. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, advocaat, postdoctoral onoderzoeker KU Leuven). The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate actual judicial practice (civil cases) that resulted from the Russian invasion, outline some procedural issues, and discuss relevant ways to address them, which may contribute to harmonizing Ukrainian civil procedural rules with the EU regulations.
16h25-16h40	“War damage claims in Belgium: brief introduction to legal procedures and access of war victims to Belgian administrative commissions and courts”. Sven Boullart (advocaat, praktijkassistent UGent). This presentation will provide an introduction to the past and existing legal procedures intended to obtain war damages regarding World War I, World War II and the transition of the Democratic Republic of Congo towards independence. These procedures of which some are still used in practice, relate to administrative procedures. The outcome of such procedures can be challenged before specific administrative courts and/or before the Council of State.
