Prof. François Crépeau (McGill University), titularis van de Internationale Francqui Professor Leerstoel voor Humane Wetenschappen in 2017-2018, brengt op 29 maart een lezing over migratie.

The Faculty of Law and Criminology of Ghent University and the Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees (CESSMIR) have the honour to invite you to the public lecture The Global Compact on Migration: A stepping stone towards better cooperation? by Prof. François Crépeau (McGill University), currently International Francqui Professor Chair at UCLouvain.

In the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants of 19 September 2016, the United Nations General Assembly decided to develop a Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The Compact aims to enhance international cooperation on the governance of migration, by establishing a framework that addresses the opportunities and challenges posed by human mobility. On 5 February 2018, a zero draft was released, which refers to the Compact as “a milestone in the history of the global migration dialogue”. The Compact is to be adopted at an intergovernmental conference in Morocco in December 2018.
