The cross-disciplinary Job Market for Young Researchers, co-organised by UGent, KU Leuven, VUB, UAntwerpen and UHasselt, provides a unique opportunity to meet in person + 100 companies and organisations, collect valuable industry information, build networks, practice and sharpen interview techniques, join onsite workshops and so much more in Flanders Expo Ghent.

In addition we offer online CV analysis and speed career coaching (12 March) and a series of online career lunches (between 6 February and 21 March) in the run-up to the in-person fair.

CV analysis: book an appointment asap

CV analysis is offered online on Tuesday 12 March. Unfortunately, places are limited, so do not postpone booking your 20-minute online consultation with an expert.
Having received confirmation upon registration for the fair, you will be able to log in and book an appointment for a CV check. You need to upload your CV to be able to make an appointment.

Personalised career coaching: do not miss it

Do you need help identifying your skills set and selling it? Are you doubting your career direction? Do you not know how to competitively market yourself? Ask one of our career coaches! Book a 20-minute online coaching session on Tuesday 12 March and discuss your most urgent career question. Having received confirmation upon registration for the fair, you will be able to log in and book your consultation appointment. You need to upload your career question in order to be able to make an appointment.

Career lunches and workshops: tap into a wealth of information

  • Find out about the hiring trends in the current PhD job market through a range of interactive online career lunches (from 6 February through to 21 March, from 12 to 1 PM). An overview of the career lunches can be found here. We also bundle all online career lunches in the PhD Talent Pool. Log into the Talent Pool to stay updated!
  • Participation in the online career lunches is free of charge, but registration for the separate lunches is compulsory.
  • On Thursday 28 March PhD candidates and postdocs will be able to take part in a range of onsite career-focused workshops/info sessions to be organised in Flanders Expo Ghent. Stay tuned for further info.

Prepare for the fair

Much like the workplace, the interuniversity Job Market for Young Researchers provides opportunities first and foremost to those who are driven to succeed. Make use of the CV checks, speed career coaching and career lunches that will be organised online in the run-up to the in-person fair, and put the advice given into practice in Flanders Expo Ghent on 28 March.

Venue

Online & Flanders Expo Ghent for the in-person job fair.

Participation in the Job Market for Young Researchers is free, but registration is mandatory.

Doctoral Training Programme

UGent doctoral candidates who would like to have their job fair attendance recognised as a Transferable Skills Seminar in their Doctoral Training Programme, are expected to combine their visit to the in-person fair with participation in at least 2 other activities (online CV analysis, online speed career coaching, or onsite workshops). Please pick up a fair attendance form from the UGent booth (Job Market for Young Researchers), and return it to the same booth once it has been completed.
