From September 9 to 20, 2019, FLAMES (Flanders Training Network for Methodology and Statistics) organizes a two-week Summer School

From September 9 to 20, 2019, FLAMES (Flanders Training Network for Methodology and Statistics) organizes a two-week Summer School designed to provide practical methodological and statistical training to young researchers (particularly PhD students) from all disciplines.

Following a successful rotation over the Five Flemish universities since 2013, the FLAMES summer school  is back in Ghent where we offer an even broader range of courses from top lecturers around the world.

Whether you are a complete novice, a starter with a limited knowledge, or an experienced researcher with a broad basic knowledge in the world of methodology and statistics, the FLAMES summer school offers courses at your level, which emphasize problems in  everyday research practice.

This year’s program lets you chose from 23 courses (called modules). Each module seamlessly connects theory with hands-on exercises or lab sessions, focusing on various disciplines and software packages whenever possible. The basic courses are combined in 2 recommended tracks, that directly connect to any specified prior knowledge of the participant.

PhD students are urged to register  for the courses they are interested in as soon as possible and before approval of funding from the doctoral schools since space may run out. For courses not eventually approved by the doctoral schools or for which funding is not granted, students will be allowed to de-register free of charge on the condition that it happens within a period of one month following initial registration. You will be reminded about this. Please consult FLAMES' cancellation policies.
