Lab. of Microbiology

The Laboratory studies bacterial diversity and evolution in the fields of food, gut and medical microbiology, environmental and plant associated microbiology, bacterial symbioses, proteomics and bacterial biotechnology. It comprises several teams led by Aurélien Carlier, Caroline De Tender, Bart Devreese, Kurt Houf, Marie Joossens, Peter Vandamme, Petra Van Damme and Anne Willems.

The team of Dirk de Graaf performs fundamental research on honeybee pathology, physiology and toxins. The Laboratory is a corporate partner of Honeybee Valley, a collaborative platform to combat the decline of honeybees.

Callewaert Lab

The Lab is led by Nico Callewaert. The team uses glycobiology, microbial biotechnology, biological system's engineering and bio-analytics to developing innovative molecular technology to enable novel approaches to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Lab is part of the VIB-UGent Center for Medical Biotechnology.

Saelens Lab

The Lab is led by Xavier Saelens studies medical virology and develops of vaccines and novel therapeutic agents against human influenza and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The Lab is part of the VIB-UGent Center for Medical Biotechnology.

Unit Structural Biology

The Unit is led by Savvas Savvides. The group uses integrative structural biology and molecular interaction studies to elucidate the structural and functioning of macromolecular complexes involved in inflammation, immunity, and cancer. The Unit is part of the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research.

Magez Lab

The Lab is led by Stefan Magez and is part of the Centre for Biomedical Research, Campus Korea.
