A postgraduate is an intensive continuation course of minimally 20 ECTS targeted at professionals who already have a bachelor or master degree. A postgraduate is very practice-based, usually includes an apprenticeship and is focussed on the job market.

Blue Resources for the Blue Economy

The Blue Economy can be defined as activities related to oceans, seas and coasts for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs. Ghent University and the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology have joined forces and developed one of the few programmes specifically aimed at the Blue Economy. Hydrography B

The objective of hydrography is to collect and record about the world’s oceans and seas. Hydrography is instrumental in the production of nautical charts for seafarers. It also assists mariners by providing other necessary tools such as tidal predictions, ocean currents, daily up-to-date information about changes related to navigational areas etc. In a wider perspective hydrographers can predict erosion patterns and the evolution of beaches for communities and tourism, and are involved in land-winning and offshore activities. Ghent University hosts, in cooperation with the Institute for Hydrography of the Antwerp Maritime Academy, the English postgraduate course. The postgraduate Hydrography B aims at students with no prior knowledge of hydrography. After successful completion of the course the candidate will qualify as hydrographic surveyor – level B. Weather and Climate Modeling

More and more international attention is going to extreme weather and climate. The aim of this postgraduate programme (33 ECTS) is to prepare scientists in the most efficient way to become active as a researcher in the modern discipline of atmospheric modeling for weather and climate applications. Fire Safety Engineering

During this intensive postgraduate (60 ECTS) you obtain all knowledge and skills to work as a certified fire safety expert in a company (ISO TR 13387-1). You learn to assess (fire) risks correctly. This way you can make the right decisions to garantee the safety of people, buildings, the environment and heritage. Certificate Smart Operations and Maintenance in Industry

In this postgraduate, jointly organised with KU Leuven (24 ECTS) you can specialize as engineer in 'Smart O&M. The focus is on the most relevant and essential 4.0 industrial technologies and concepts with regard to the operation and maintenance in the making industry. Furthermore, with this degree you can also apply for jobs in other sectors with an intensive production such as food industry and pharmacy.
