Matwelly Muhammad is a Ph.D. fellow in the Supramolecular Chemistry group since January 2017. He obtained his bachelor degree in chemistry from Assiut University, Egypt, in 2011. In 2016, he obtained his master degree in biomedical engineering under supervision of Prof. Chun-Jen Hunag from National Central University, in Taiwan. He obtained a Ph.D. scholarship from Ghent University and currently works on an ERC Smart Cast Project.

Research project:

Smart Cast Project is an ERC advanced grant project under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. The goal of this project is the active control of concrete rheology during casting, and the active triggering of early stiffening of the concrete as soon as it puts in place. The ground-breaking idea to achieve this goal, is to develop concretes with actively controllable rheology by adding responsive polymers that can be triggered by external stimuli.
