Tim Egghe

Position: doctoral researcherTim Egghe

Tim Egghe is a joint Ph.D. researcher in the Research Unit Plasma Technology (RUPT) and the Supramolecular Chemistry (SC) group. He obtained his master degree in biomedical engineering in 2017, after finishing his thesis under the supervision of Prof. De Geyter (RUPT) and Prof. Hoogenboom (SC). After obtaining his FWO-SB scholarship in december 2017, he started his Ph.D. research in January 2018.

Research project:

The research project of Tim focuses on the development of new plasma polymerized coatings and plasma-assisted antifouling coatings for biomedical applications. Antifouling coatings are able to repel proteins, bacteria and cells and are therefore of interest for a number of applications (e.g. antibacterial coatings). The use of plasma technology enables easy deposition of coatings on a wide variety of substrates in an environmentally friendly way.
