Forest & Nature Lab

Welcome

The Forest & Nature Lab consists of about 25 staff members and is headed by Prof. dr. ir. Kris Verheyen. This research group is part of the department of Forest and Water Management, situated at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at Ghent University, Belgium.

Research mission

The ForNaLab's research mission focusses on hypothesis driven research on the mutual interactions between (forest) ecosystem composition and (forest) ecosystem processes, starting from concrete policy or management questions or with the aim to provide advice for management and policy.

 

Research themes

  • Impacts of global change on (forest) ecosystems
  • Functional biodiversity research (in forests)
  • Ecological restoration of (forest and grassland) ecosystems
  • Management strategies for the optimal delivery of multiple ecosystem services
