Determination of hydraulic soil parameters through a combination of remote sensing and hydrologic modeling
Funded by: Bijzonder Onderzoeksfonds (Ghent University)
Personnel: Els De Lathauwer
Promotor: Valentijn Pauwels
The main objective of this project is to develop a methodology to retrieve spatially distributed soil physical parameter values using a combination of remote sensing and hydrologic modeling. This project is performed in association with five partners, where every group focuses on a specific topic:
- The Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), the Lüdwig-Maximillians University of München (LMU) and the Istituto di Studi sui Sistemi Intelligenti per l’ Automazzione (ISSIA) are responsible for the determination of the remotely sensed soil moisture values.
- The Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) is responsible for the investigation of the crop properties.
- The Laboratory of Hydrology and Water Management (LHWM) of Ghent University focuses on the integration of the remote sensing data in hydrologic models.
