Junwei Hu obtained a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from China Agricultural University (2010–2014), followed by a master's in Crop Ecology and Farming Systems (2014–2016). In 2016, he joined Ghent University, where he completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Stefaan De Neve. His doctoral research focused on the role of soil protists and nematodes in nitrogen cycling, particularly their interactions with plant roots and microbial communities. Since 2024, Junwei has been a doctoral assistant in the Department of Environment at Ghent University. In this role, he continues his research on soil biodiversity, bridging fundamental and applied science, while also providing educational support in soil biology and other related courses.
