Maarten holds an MSc. in Bioscience Engineering Technology (Horticulture) from Ghent University. His master’s research focused on the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in enhancing phosphorus uptake of vegetable crops in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Following one and a half years as a strawberry researcher at Inagro vzw, he began his PhD at SoFer in December 2025. His doctoral research contributes to the A-MOVE project, which quantifies post-fertilisation ammonia volatilisation within the Flemish agricultural sector.
