Tesfahun Belay Mihrete began his career as a lecturer at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, after earning a BSc. in Plant Sciences (2018) and an MSc. in Horticulture (2022). His work focuses on regenerative agriculture and advancing horticultural practices, with a strong commitment to addressing challenges faced by farmers in Ethiopia. In May 2025, he received the Special Research Fund (BOF) Doctoral Scholarship for Candidates from the Global South at Ghent University. His PhD focuses on the Integrated assessment of the organic fertilizer potential of Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) frass for improving soil and plant health in Northwestern Ethiopia, under the supervision of Prof. Stefaan De Neve (promotor), Prof. Wim Wesemael (co-promotor), and Prof. Melkamu Alemayehu (external co-promotor).
