Emma de Meij

Emma de Meij graduated as a Master of Veterinary Sciences (major research and equine veterinary medicine) in July 2024 from Ghent University. In November 2024, she started an interdisciplinary PhD under the supervision of Prof. dr. Catharina De Schauwer and Prof. dr. Sandra Van Vlierberghe. The project aims to develop innovative materials for periodontitis treatment.

Her specific research focuses on the development of in situ forming hydrogels, with a particular interest in leveraging the antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties of mesenchymal stromal cells to enhance periodontal regeneration.
