Julia Mokhtar is a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Business and Economics at Ghent University, Belgium. In her dissertation she studies the performance of academic spin-offs and the boundary-spanning activities of the university, the region, and the industry from a multi-level perspective. Together with Prof. Mirjam Knockaert she compiled a longitudinal cross-country database of European academic spin-offs to better understand the antecedents of spin-off performance. Prior to that, she worked as a junior relationship manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), a German venture capital investor. She also gained hands-on experience at the global incubator Start-up Lab of the Deutsche Post DHL Group. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany, and a Master's degree in Strategy and Innovation from the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
