Xavier Walthoff-Borm

Biography

Xavier Walthoff-Borm is a PhD student at Ghent University. He received research funding from the FWO, a prestigious research fund for fundamental and strategic research, to get profound insights in the supply and demand in the equity crowdfunding market, the impact of corporate governance mechanisms in equity crowdfunding, and  the role of equity crowdfunding in traditional financiers’ investment decision-making. His research has been presented at entrepreneurship conferences (such as Babson and the Academy of Management Annual Meeting), entrepreneurial finance conferences (such as ENTFIN), and crowdfunding conferences (such as the Crowdfunding Symposium). From January 2018 he is an associate visiting scholar at Politecnico di Milano. Further, he serves as an elected PhD representative on the board of governors and the faculty board for Ghent University. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Business Venturing.
