Short bio:
I am a PhD student at the WAVES research group of Ghent University. I received my MSc in Information Engineering Technology from Ghent University in 2018, where my master’s thesis focused on implicit feedback for video recommendations through emotion recognition. In 2020, I completed an MSc in Complementary Studies in Business Economics from the same university, with a thesis on increasing motivation for sustainable grocery shopping with sustainability tips. That same year, I began my PhD research on recommender system algorithms in mobile applications aimed at motivating physically inactive individuals to engage in more physical activity. My research interests include designing personalization algorithms that are situated in the health domain and emphasize user-centric design and GDPR compliance. More generally, I am also interested in ethical AI and machine learning for decision-making.
