Research
The Biomedical Research Center is a scientific unit of the Ghent University Global Campus in Songdo, South Korea. Our mission is to understand the fundamental immunological principles that govern host-pathogen interactions.
The focus of our research aims at:
- Investigating the immunopathology of trypanosome infections, leading to the destruction of immunological memory.
- Establishing a compound screening platform aiming at adjuvant activity identification.
- Setting up a Nanobody screening and production platform for the development of new diagnostic tools.
- Assessing the microbiome of fermented foods and their potential interactions with the ‘host’ immune system.
Our investigations comprise bacterial as well as parasitic models and use state-of-the-art technologies including FACS(sort), RNAseq, high-throughput fluorescent microscopy and NGS for genome analysis.
