Research activities

Besides the new Fablab containing state-of-the-art prototyping equipment, there is a simulation environment and design-tools. The lab also contains polymer processing machines and non-destructive testing equipment.

Simulation and Design

We provide simulation tools to make the first 3D models at the start of the design process.

The first simulations are finite-element based and focus on the mechanical behaviour of the part.
We can, however, upon request, also look into other simulations such as thermal, acoustical, EMC, ....

The software used is ao. ABAQUS & LS-Dyna,
Hymermesh, Matlab, Thermocalc, ...

Based on our user experience the design can be adapted.

    Polymer processing

We have experience in a wide range of polymer processing techniques to support the upscaling of the production process:

    • co-extrusion (single screw and twin screw)
    • injection
    • plate and foil co-extrusion unit up to 5 layers

    Prototyping

We provide a wide range of additive manufacturing technologies using following machines or tools:

    • lasercutter, engraver
    • 3D printer
    • vacuum casting application
    • milling machines
    • thermoforming
    • mock-ups

      Testing

To make sure your product meets the desired quality demands.

We offer expertise in several domains.
