Accessibility for people with disabilities
Ghent University wants its websites on the domain www.ugent.be to be fully accessible to everyone. We take specific measures to make its online documents accessible to Internet users with visual, motor and auditory impairments but also to the elderly.
The website is partially compliant with the European standard for accessibility, EN 301 549.
Problems with accessibility?
Besides the central portal site, all local websites that use our central editing system meet most of the accessibility guidelines.
Nevertheless, you may encounter link references to websites that do not meet these guidelines. Content that may not comply with the guidelines:
- Some (complex) images do not have a correct alternative description or text alternative.
- Not all videos have subtitles and audio description. The video player does not have an option to adjust or disable subtitles, and the shortcut keys can be activated unintentionally via voice commands.
- Some lists or tables are not formatted correctly.
- Certain documents, such as PDF files, do not always meet accessibility requirements. If you encounter any issues, please contact the relevant department for an accessible alternative.
Should you experience problems with the accessibility of certain websites, please report them to Communication and Marketing:
Should you not have received a satisfactory response to your report, please contact the following unit:
