The postdoc community is an inclusive community for and by postdocs, where all are recognized, informed and empowered in their current and future career trajectories.
Our core objectives include:
Career development: creating awareness for and encouraging proactive career development.
Community building: connecting postdocs within and beyond the workplace and providing a network for sharing experiences.

The Postdoc Community (PDC) is a grass-roots community by and for postdocs.
Our mission is to support proactive career development and foster connections among postdocs both within and beyond the workplace.
We bring people together through social events such as monthly bar nights, group bike rides, ice-skating, outings to the Christmas market, and the Gentse Feesten.
In addition, we organise thematic events covering topics like well-being, careers beyond academia, and the transition from postdoc to professor. Some event highlights: Postdoc Day 2023 and From Postdoc to Professor 2021.
To ensure broad representation, we aim to have a (inter)national contact from each faculty of Ghent University.
Who is in the Postdoc Community
The postdoc community consists of a steering committee and is supported by the coordinator career support for postdoctoral researchers as liaison with the Postdoc Career Hub.
The steering committee meets once a month to plan events, upcoming initiatives and discuss the needs of Ghent University postdocs. We organize at least four thematic events per year. Each event aims at supporting you in your current and future academic or non-academic career and gives you the opportunity to network.
