Language and motor functions are usually studied as separate systems. My work aims to bridge this gap focusing on language production. In this talk, I will present findings on language production through typing and draw on the contrast between the spoken and written modalities to inform the relationship between linguistic processing and motor execution. Overall, I will highlight what I consider to be the missing link between response selection and execution in language production frameworks in order to keep advancing our understanding of the interactions between cognition and action.
